Hello from my Lovely (but Hazy) Vacation: A Photo Diary
I spent four days basking in pure relaxation and just bliss, in one of my favorite places on earth.
A place I would always refer to, as the paradise on earth.
It was a good break; I would love to say that we enjoyed the outdoors, but unfortunately the evil haze just got into the way.
I would have cancelled the vacation, to be frank, due to the haze, but since it was already booked and it was kind of a little abode perfect for that yearly escapade, we went ahead with it anyway.
Haze and all.
It was really hard not to let the haze get in the way; however determined I was to avoid it at all cost but this is a place centering on the outdoors, so it was really a huge challenge.
It seemed like it was not really sunny either; of course, with that thick mask of the haze just pushing the sun to the back, forming that thick cloud of smoke in its place which was not enough to block the sun's determined or far more powerful UV rays from penetrating through.
We stayed indoors most of the time, coming out only to enjoy our meals and well, getting books from the library.
(I always need my books)
It was still good, I managed to get a little more rest than usual though I think the haze effects did take its toll on me.
(the haze is always my greatest nemesis; besides everyone, me in particularly and my health always suffers whenever the haze is around).
Anyway, this post is not really about the haze but rather about my vacation.
In fact, I just wanted to share some photos which turned out to be really good, so this is more of a photo journal entry rather than the usual long writing.
(I know, sometimes I just write really long and some of you just prefer photos? :-) )
I am not a fashion blogger or anything, but I really liked how some of these photos or shoots, turned out.
The best ones are the natural ones, since I am not a poser or anything (just a little posing once in a while).
I am not even photogenic, and I mean it.
You can see the terrible haze in the background.
This place is in Malaysia, and the API (Air Pollutant Index) readings were, unfortunately, at one of the worst during my trip.
Perfect timing.
Thanks to the haze for ruining my trip.
Technically the hornbill species named for the crown is the Rhinoceros Hornbill, but oh well, all hornbills just deserve that recognition, in my opinion.
This is a female hornbill, due to the lighter and whiter shade of beak.
These beauties can be found all over Malaysia, and is also the icon of Sarawak, one of the states on the East of Malaysia (bordering Borneo).
Said Hi to our National Flower too; the Bunga Raya (Hibiscus)
Officially, the red one is the rightful one to the title and the color is of courage to represent the brave warriors and the spirit of the countrymen in general.
You didn't think we would survive our vacation without eating, did you?
The saying always goes, you don't really diet while on vacation.
The diet comes After the vacation.
You don't?
Forget what I said then.
It was all in all, a great vacation, though the haze did a pretty great job in ruining the scenery and the air that I breathed in.
P.S:
If you're wondering why I'm always with a glass or a cup, well, I have a few explanations:-
1. You need to stay hydrated during this kind of crappy, I mean, hazy weather.
You just can't drink enough to keep yourself sickness-free.
2. I don't know why the thought of snapping photos always come whenever I am taking a sip.
The glass/cup must be my muse, I am serious.
3. I think they look really cool. Like, do I really need a reason to drink water or tea, or anything?
4. I don't take alcohol, just felt the need to clarify that.
5. Let's just drink to that, water, I mean.
6. It's all very festive and suits the celebration mood, don't you think?
You do not have to agree with me.
This is based on my personal experience and is told in a subjective manner, entirely from my perspective.
